Health for Life

The approach of Health for Life programme in schools is to promote an ethos and environment which encourages a pro-active approach to developing a healthy lifestyle and focuses on
  • Growing food
  • Physical activity
  • Healthy eating
  • Cooking skills.
Promotes an understanding of the full range of issues and behaviours which affect life-long health. 
The programme is funded by the Mondelēz International Foundation and  Health for Life is delivered through primary and secondary schools in south Birmingham by the Health Education Service in partnership with the Life Education Centres. The community programme is delivered by The Conservation Trust.
The programme supports Change4Life and offers a range of opportunities to encourage families towards leading healthier lifestyles.
Health for Life in Primary Schools is an 18 month programme that will help your school develop its own programme to improve facilities and curriculum offer to your pupils and their families. During that time your school receives
  • funded training, 
  • support from an Education Adviser to help develop your work in your school 
  • grant funding to support your Action Plan
  • funded work with parents and families.
  • Support from volunteers.
Each school has to meet the objectives but we know that every school is different so programme not rigid; builds on your current practice and what you want to develop within the broad areas of
  • Growing food
  • Physical activity
  • Healthy eating
  • Cooking skills
The programme has logical steps to change attitudes, perceptions and behaviour and to ensure that the whole school community involved.
