Broadwaters residential 2011/12 (50 images)

Year 3 children visited a place called Broadwater as aprt of a cultral diversity project. The children stayed at the site for two nights with Hillstone school. The children took part in many activities. On day one activities such as rock climbing, crate stacking, bomb disposal, stompers, obstacle course and designing a cultral mask took place. The children prepared a lovely dinner too of homemade pizza, jacket potatoes and beans. They ended the night with homemade cookies, hot chocolate and songs around the camp fire. Day two involved Arican and Samba drumming and a mix of cultral dances including Kathok, Aboriginal, carnival and Cossack. In addition to these workshops we created shoulder dresses to wear with our masks fro our grand finale performance on th evening. Children also cooked up a cultral feast of spaghetti bolognese, sweet and sour quorn (chicken) and rice with nachos. the children had a fabulous time and met lots of new people.

3D Birmingham Back to Backs (21 images)

We visited the Back to Back houses in Birmingham City centre. The children made and lit traditional fires using paper, coal and kindle wood. They also washed clothes, visited, cleaned and tidied the houses. they also learnt about the families which lived there and their quality of life.

Year 3 walked from Bewdley to Stourport on Severn as part of their geography topic, canals and waterways. They looked at uses of waterways past and present, problems flooding causes, surrounding features and how locks work.
