Dore Programme
The pioneering work of the medical research team behind the Dore
programme have been piecing together scientific discoveries from around
the world which has helped us develop a proven drug-free treatment that
can tackle a wide variety of social and educational difficulties in a
revolutionary new way. The Dore programme has brought wonderful
sustained results for large numbers, simply through a prescribed series
of fun, structured and varied exercises which take just ten minutes,
twice a day.
Over 18,000 people have enrolled on the programme
worldwide since Dore first began in 1999. The first centre was
established in 2000, quickly expanding by 2005 to nine centres in the
UK (Kenilworth, Chelsea, Bedford, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff,
Sheffield, Southampton and Taunton), five in the United States, four in
Australia and one in New Zealand.
It is only in the last couple
of years that we have started to realise that learning difficulties are
almost inevitably a neurological development problem and not one caused
by poor teaching or parenting. The cost of remediation is relatively
low and there are currently five local authorities piloting the
programme in schools (as of 2004). Four of these pilot studies have
finished, resulting in extra students being sent to Dore based on the
great success of the results so far.
Dore takes a holistic approach to treatment which works on developing the cerebellum. The under functioning of which is the root cause of learning difficulties.
It
is the cerebellum which makes skills automatic for us. However, when
the cerebellum is not fully developed, it is our thinking brain which
works as a back-up. Complex skills are often never fully automated and
so need some continuous involvement of the thinking brain to execute.
Dore
has been at the forefront of pioneering research which has shown that
the cerebellum not only has a wider role then motor responses and
co-ordination, but can be stimulated to improve its function to allow
the processes of automatisation to take place.
Our drug-free
exercise based treatment programme strengthens the cerebellum and helps
it to process information much more quickly and accurately. Dore takes
a holistic approach to treatment which works on training / developing
the cerebellum which is the root cause of learning difficulties.
Individually
tailored exercises are designed to help achieve dramatic improvement in
self-esteem, reading, writing, comprehension and co-ordination.
Learning becomes easier and more pleasurable.
